while the conventional textbooks make sharp distinction between the late dutch colonial periode, japanese occupation periode, the indonesian revolution, the periode of parliamentary democracy or old order, and the new order, freek colombijn considers decolonialization as an extended process which includes both the periodes of before and after the indoensian revolution.
